Beaver claims that the designs that come up on it can tell fortunes. Rabbit gives it a whirl and it say he's going to win something. Snail tries and is told that he's going to be famous. Franklin, however, is skeptical. He doesn't think it's magical. It's just a top. How can it tell the future of anything? He asks for a try, but Beaver tells him that if he doesn't believe in its power, then he can't try it. After a couple more of Beaver's predictions come true, Franklin tells Beaver on the bus that he now believes in the power of the top. So Beaver lets him have a turn. He spins it and it lands on a sad cloud. Beaver tells him that this isn't good at all. It means he's going to have a bad day tomorrow. His friends all try to comfort him, suggesting that maybe it isn't right all the time. But Franklin is convinced that if the top says he's going to have a bad day, then it must be so. The next day, Franklin stays at his house while his friends go off to play. He wears a helmet and other protection in case something bad happens to him. His friends ask him if he wants to go on a bike ride. But he tells them that it's best for him to stay at home on a bad day. When they return early from their bike ride, Franklin wonders if someone crashed or something. But actually, something really good happened. They got free ice cream, which the owner of the shop was getting rid of to make room for new ice cream. Franklin should have been there. They ask him if he'd like to go to the tree fort, but he says that he still wants to stay at home. They return from the tree fort and tell him that the eggs that they've been watching hatched. Once again, Franklin should have been there. They ask him if he wants to go swimming. Franklin tries to concoct some more imaginary scenarios. What if he drowns? What if a crayfish bites him? They have a question for him: what if he has a really good time? He's already had a bad day, after all, he's missed out on all the fun stuff that's been happening. So Franklin goes swimming with his friends. Beaver is there and asks what Franklin's doing there if he's having a bad day. Franklin suggests that maybe the top isn't always right. Beaver tells him that the top is always right and that it told her that she's going to be surprised today. And indeed she is surprised: when a crayfish bites her on the tail.#30502 "Franklin's Cellar"Franklin and his family are having bread with grape jam. Franklin likes to lay it on thick, but he's laid on so thick that they've run out. So he goes down to the cellar to get some more. It's very dark in the cellar and Franklin starts to get worried. He knows there's no such thing as monsters, but he's hearing noises. One of them is very loud and sends him racing upstairs. There, his parents tell him that the noise he heard was the water heater. They tell him that it's his imagination that makes monsters seem real, but his imagination is still a good thing. Still, Franklin would feel better if they would go down and get the jam for him. Later, Franklin is playing baseball with his friends. But it starts to rain and so they head to Beaver's house. It would seem they'll have to play something else. Franklin decides on hide and seek and everyone else calls "not It," leaving Franklin to find them. He finds Goose and Beaver well enough, but he can't seem to find Bear. Beaver suggests that maybe Bear is in the cellar. Franklin tries to make excuses not to go down there, but finally has to admit that he's afraid. So Beaver and Goose go down with him, even though Goose is rather afraid of cellars too. Down in the cellar, (which has fish swimming by the windows, since they're underwater) Beaver tries to show Franklin that there's nothing to afraid of. But then a strange shadow sends them all rushing upstairs, including Bear (who was hiding in the cellar, but not where they thought he was.) We see that the shadow was just a spider, but upstairs, Franklin, Beaver, Goose and Bear or scared stiff. They all agree that there's no way they're ever going into their cellars again. Bear doesn't like this, since his house's freezer is down in the cellar. Later, on a cloudy, but not rainy day, Franklin and his friends are discussing the situation. As they do, they watch the clouds. Bear uses his imagination to see that one of the clouds looks like a camel. They all take turns imagining various animals. Franklin remembers what his parents said about his imagination being a good thing. He tells his friends that if monsters are just imaginary, then they can use their imaginations to make them go away. The entire group puts on superhero costumes. Then, one by one, they visit the cellars of each of their households, fighting the imaginary monsters in each one. Finally, they do this in Franklin's household. Mr. and Mrs. Turtle find them doing this and thank them for getting rid of the monsters. They say that next they're going over to Mr. Mole's household, in case he has any monsters in his cellar. We see the four superheroes, as they head off into the sunset.
