PAULINE: Pauline's been languishing in HMP Clitclink since being arrested for taking Ross hostage at the Job Centre. Deprived of her freedom and her pens, she's found solace in several large female inmates. Out of the blue, she is released, and goes to live with her loyal Mickey, who's been waiting for her. Unbeknown to Mickey, she is only out because she did a deal with slimy Ross: freedom in exchange for reporting Mickey and his family's dole cheating. She's racked with guilt and doesn't want to go through with it. At Barbara's fancy dress party, Pauline and Mickey (both dressed as the opposite sex) have sex and decide to get engaged. She tries to break off the deal with Ross, and has sex with him so he won't report Mickey. However, Ross tells Pauline he intends to tell Mickey about their liaison. Anxious to get to Mickey before Ross does, she rushes out of his flat and into the street. Running into the middle of the road, a red plastic bag blows in her face; Pauline pulls it away and screams as a speeding white van heads straight for her...

BARBARA: Barbara lays flowers at the site of the burned down Local Shop, where Edward, Tubbs and David all perished in the blaze. She's very heavily pregnant to the deceased David, and later throws a gender-bending fancy dress party.

LOCAL SHOP: Edward and Tubbs burst through the earth amid the rubble of the Local Shop with cries of "we're alive!", looking rather the worse for wear. They try to follow New Road to London, but unfortunately for them they're walking along the railway line, and are promptly smashed to pieces by a speeding train.

DR CARLTON: The rather unfortunate Mrs Beasley visits mysterious Dr Carlton to seek treatment for a persistent headache, only to be berated and rebuffed. He eventually invites her to his home, for "treatment", where she finds herself a participant in some very bizarre behaviour along with other equally ailing patients. Games of Grandmother's Footsteps and Bizzy Bizzy Bumbles follow.

MR FOOT: Mr Foot's bad-tempered brother, Peter, makes the family rehearse his own funeral every weekend, to the point they've all had enough. Meanwhile, Mr Foot and Peter's wife, Sheila, make it clear they can't wait for him to snuff it so they can get married.
