Tonight four out of the five contestants will be performing number one country songs for America. Our special guest Phil Vassar will be performing tonight as well. The show began with Phil Vassar and the five remaining finalists; Brandi Gibson, Buddy Jewell, Miranda Lambert, John Arthur Martinez, and Brandon Silveira performing the #1 hit "Just Another Day in Paradise". This week, John Arthur Martinez was the first one to be called. He performed Keith Urban's "But for the Grace of God." Then followed it with his original song, "Home Made of Stone" inspired by his wife, Yvonna. The judges along with Phil Vassar overall enjoyed his performance. Brandi Gibson was called next. She performed Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now." and followed it with her original song, "Take Her Picture," inspired by her experience with her boyfriend. Judge Robert Oermann enjoyed her performance and felt this was the first time she was very original. Judge Charlie Robison felt that when she sings covers, she's trying to hide. Buddy Jewell was the third contestant to be called. He sang "It Must Be Love," by Don Williams. His original song was "Abilene." The judges loved his performance. Now is the time to announce the last performer of the evening. It is between Miranda Lambert and Brandon Silveira. Whoever isn't called is eliminated. Nancy read the name of Miranda Lambert. Brandon says his goodbyes and is happy to have gotten this far. Miranda performed Keith Urban's "Somebody Like You," followed by her original song, "Oh, California." Even though her song was about a man in California, she dedicated it to Brandon. Judge Charlie Robison loves her voice and felt that her first song, wasn't as good. Judge Tracy Gershon disagreed with Charlie about Miranda's first song. She enjoyed that one as well as this one. Judge Robert Oermann announced he had a crush on her! (So that tells us he liked her performance as well.) Tune in next Saturday 10pm/9c on USA network where will eliminate one more contestant and hear entertaining duets.
