Young Lawyers, TheFirst Aired in 1970 The concept for this show took off in 1969, with the idea of a firm of young idealistic law students who would take up the causes of those who could not normally afford lawyers. The show was created to appeal to a younger audience, which at that time was not interested in the shows that were currently being offered by the networks. The original cast of the show included Lee J. Cobb as David Barrett, the head of the Boston-based law firm which was more like a neighborhood hangout, Zalman King as Aaron Silverman, a passionate and idealistic Jewish lawyer who still saw the world through rose-tinted glasses, and Judy Pace as Pat Walters, a street-wise black female attorney. Later episodes saw the addition of Phillip Clark as Chris Blake, a conservative young man with a relatively staid background. The series ran for one season on ABC, starting out with most of their cases involving the run-of-the-mill police brutality and the like, but by the end of the series, it was tackling much more serious issues.
