Boys and Girls

First Aired in 2003

Created by infamous broadcaster and celebrity Chris Evans, 'Boys and Girls' was a Saturday evening entertainment show with a difference. With a target audience of 16 - 25 year olds, this was one incredibly lively and exciting TV Show. The premise of the show was 100 boys, 100 girls all in one studio and all battling it out. Three audience members of the same sex performed to the whole studio - the other audience members of the opposite sex would vote to decide who was thier favourite, this person was a 'contestant'. They were then able to pick two people of the opposite sex to take with them. All three were then taken to the Boys and Girls appartment, in the center of London, to stay for a week. In this week, they were given a certain ammount of money to spend each day. Of course there was a catch, though as they could only buy things of a certain theme explained (i.e - Something Red), any money they didnt spend in a couple hours was lost. At the end of the week the contestant would pick just one of the two partners they brought with them to the final stage, an all-expenses paid holiday. Before they could get the holiday, and indeed all of what they had brought one of them would have to answer three of five questions correctly back in the studio the following week. If they got it wrong, they lost everything. Throw in some top quality entertainment, some slightly suggestive games and the infamous "Babe or Minger" audience member poll, some celebrity appearances and you've got Boys and Girls! Vernon Kay hosts. Aswell as the main Saturday Night Channel 4 programme, there were also two extra show's for the series. "Boys and Girls Do It With Dougie", hosted by RI:SE reporter Dougie Anderson was aired after the Channel 4 show on a Saturday on digital channel E4, and it was also shown throughout the week to report on the contestants lives in the flat they share for a week. A one-off show called "Boys and Girls Friday", also hosted by Dougie was also shown on E4 on a Friday night. It contained more footage of the contestants' week in the flat and some never-before-seen footage of behind-the-scenes as the Saturday night main show.

April 2003 - Channel 4 - 10.30pm Saturday Nights
April 2003 - Channel 4 - 11.00pm Saturday Nights

After some dissapointed ratings, the show was Axed by its network Channel 4. It lasted just one season. The show's failure was blamed on the fact it had such a small audience, as it was only really for 16 - 25 year olds.
