Brother's Keeper
First Aired in 1998
It can be awkward when family comes to visit. It can be even more uncomfortable if they move in. But imagine if your wild, younger brother has to move in with you or lose his job . . . this is Porter Waide's dilemma. A straight-laced English professor, Porter is happy raising his eight-year-old son, Oscar, on his own in Northern California. But he and Oscar don't know what's in store for them when Porter's brother, Bobby, unexpectedly arrives in town with a new multi-million-dollar contract with the city's pro football team. Bobby is a notorious bad boy in professional football, and there's a catch to his lucrative new deal. In order to reform his trouble-making habits, Bobby must live with a responsible party. And, of course, the most responsible person Bobby knows is his dependable brother, Porter.
Keeping a watchful eye on Bobby is Dena Draeger, his sports agent. She has been given the unenviable task of 'babysitting' Bobby to make sure that he stays out of trouble and keeps his new football deal from falling apart. But Dena is discovering that keeping up with Bobby is next to impossible and just plain exhausting.
While Porter is reluctant to let Bobby stay with them, he sees that Oscar is thrilled to spend time with his famous and entertaining uncle. Bobby and Porter become an unlikely odd-couple parenting team. Porter will try to teach Bobby about responsibility while Bobby will help Porter loosen up and have some fun. At the center will be Oscar, whose new family life promises to be one of chaos, conflict, and lots and lots of fun."
