Crest of the StarsFirst Aired in 2002 "Crest of the Stars" is a both an epic and a personal tale. On the epic side it involves conquering starship armadas, subjugated solar systems, and civil war between competing galactic civilizations. But this sweeping drama is seen through the eyes of two young individuals and told through the subtle unfolding of their relationship. One of the two individuals is a human boy named Jinto. As a little boy his home world of Martine is invaded by an aloof alien race known as the Abh. Jinto's father, Rock Lin, ruler of Martine, decides to surrender to the Abh without a struggle. This puts Jinto in a very peculiar position, as his father is appointed to an honorary position in Abh royalty and made ruler of the conquered system in the Abh's name. (Although imperialistic, the Abh don't like to personally rule planets. They're interested in controlling the routes of interplanetary travel around planets.) As the series starts, Jinto is 17 years old and about to spend time in Abh military school as part of his obligations as an honorary Abh noble. The other individual is a 16-year-old Abh girl, Lafiel. A flight trainee aboard the Abh destroyer ship Gosroth, she's sent to deliver Jinto to his military training. Although he has learned the Abh language and has studied Abhs in the abstract, Lafiel is the first Abh he meets in person. She doesn't immediately reveal it to him, but the intelligent and independent Lafiel is actually Abh royalty -- granddaughter of the Abh empress herself, and thus an Abh princess (a position she finds as problematic as Jinto finds his). Lafiel and Jinto's clash of cultures and personalities, the evolution of their friendship, and what they can and can't learn from each other form the heart of the show. Through this they will face attacks by hostile empires wanting to spark off war, a kidnapping by mad royalty, a flight as refugees, and more.
