First Aired in 1983

Good Morning Britain first appeared on our screens on February 1st 1983 as part of the UK's first commercial breakfast television station TV-am.

Launched by the 'Famous Five' ( David Frost, Michael Parkinson, Robert Kee, Angela Rippon and Anna Ford who was a late replacement for Esther Rantzen who was pregnant )in a blaze of publicity GMB soon became a ratings disaster with the BBC's newly launched Breakfast Time with Frank Bough and Selina Scott becoming the most popular breakfast choice with viewers and critics. Nick Owen was promoted from sports reporter to main presenter along side a recently hired Anne Diamond from BBC news.
