I'm Telling!First Aired in 1987 Do you have a pesky little brother who follows you around, asks you a ton of questions and just gets in your way? Or a snobbish big sister who hogs the bathroom and grosses you out whenever she kisses her boyfriend? Perhaps kid sister is a tattletale and always reading your diary. Maybe big brother spends too much time bouncing a basketball and not enough time with you ... or on his homework (as his report cards full of C's and D's attests). If any of the above (and much more) were true, this mean-spirited clone of The Newlywed Game was for you. Three sets of siblings – usually brother-sister (and nearly always stereoptypical) – competed in I'm Telling, a Saturday morning entry hosted by actor Laurie Faso, answering questions about each other in an effort to win prizes (that is, if they didn't get into fights and shed blood first). The front game was played in two rounds. In round one, the brothers were "wisked away" via "the Isochamber" (taken off stage to a soundproof room), while the sisters answered a series of three questions. Before each question, Faso announced a series of three pun-styled topics, with the sister choosing the question by pressing a plunger. After the questions had been answered, the brothers were brought back. If the brother could guess what his sister said, the team won points (25 for the first question; 50 and 75 points for subsequent correct matches). If there was not a match, the siblings showed their true bratty, snotty sides and began arguing (of course, Faso encouraged the proceedings, using one's words against the other and the laugh track working maniacally). In round two, the sisters went offstage while the brothers answered their three questions (now worth 50, 75 and 150 points). The sisters then returned and tried to match their brothers. The team in the lead after two rounds won a $1,000 savings bond and advanced to the "Pick-A-Prize Arcade" for bonus prizes. Ties were broken by having the teams reveal their answers to a numerical question (such as, "How many cookie are in the cookie jar?" and "How many jelly beans are in the jar?"). Each sibling got to run the "Arcade" separately, choosing six prizes from a possible 10 he/she believed his/her sibling chose for them. The siblings kept every prize they matched, while 10 matches won them every one of the 20 prizes on stage. While most shows featured brother-sister teams, others featured sibling teams consisting of older-younger brothers (two teams of brothers scored a perfect 425!) and older-younger sisters, while others featured youthful stars of NBC shows playing with their real-life siblings. "I'm Telling you, this show was awful," more than one critic was heard to say. Apparently, many people agreed and the tattling stopped after 26 episodes. The loud, bratty, trendy-clothed and hair-styled siblings and their fighting got some encore showings thanks to reruns the Family Channel in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
