Link Men, The

First Aired in 1970

The Link Men was an unsuccessful Sydney attempt to emulate the massive popularity being acheived by Homicide and Division 4

The series centered around a special unit of the New South Wales police which only handled unusual cases.

The program was doomed from the start, with the pilot episode being deemed not good enough to screen, as was a later episode. While the exterior film sequences were good (in fact, better than some of the corresponding scenes in the Crawford programs), the scripts were generally lack-lustre, studio direction static, and guest performances ranged from excellent to abysmal.

Today, the program's sole claim to fame is for the first continuing Australian series role by later "General Hospital" star Tristan Rogers.

Long thought to have been erased (due to TCN-9's constant denial that they held copies), scenes from The Link Men were featured in the ScreenSound Australia video release Cops, Spies, & Private Eyes - including what is most likely the most unconvincing fight scene in television history...
