Man Against CrimeFirst Aired in 1949 Earliest of all network video detective yarns, this product by Pathescope and under the sponsorship of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco, with Ralph Bellamy well-suited to the role of the pertinacious freelancer Mike Barnett, whose sojourns among the seedier urban dwellers made for some unadulterated viewing in pre-censored pristine television. Well-composed by some of the more accomplished writers of live video drama (Vincent Bogert, Burton Benjamin, William Kendall Clark and Max Erlich among the better known) whose neatly constructed and literate teleplays have not in this genre been rivaled.
