Phantom InvestigatorsFirst Aired in 2002 The Phantom Investigators: 4 fairly average junior highschool kids. One is a hip-hopping amateur DJ and another a cool, laid back boarder. There's also the likeable nerd, and the girl next door. They sound nice enough, don't they? But so what? What's so special about this quartet? Why do they get their own show and you don't? Well, they also happen to be the Phantom Investigators, a freelance group whose clients are unlucky enough to be plaugued by the supernatural. And despite how they seem, each member is truly unique: Kira: Looking for some music to dance to? Look to Kira. Want some dry wit? Kira's your girl. Need someone to read minds? Kira can do that, too. Kira's a telepathic DJ who occassionally regrets being a Phantom Investigator. However, she's far too dedicated to helping others to give up. Jericho: Jericho is a telekinetic and a wisecracker; he can move things with his mind and make you laugh at the same time. He's not the brightest member of the team, but still manages to get them out of more than a few scrapes with his ingenuity. Casey: Casey is a nerd. There's no denying it; no one can change that. However, what can be changed is Casey's appearance. He can be a dog, a pinball machine, a pair of scissors or anything else he can think of; this shy but friendly geek is a shapeshifter, ladies and gentlemen. Daemona Prune: Unlike the others P.I.'s, Daemona has no special powers. She makes do, however; she is an expert in the supernatural and a gifted leader. She wears a funky costume, has a quirky manner of answering the phone and is always the first to meet prospective clients. This foursome, powerful and smart as they are, do sometimes need help. Lucky for them, they've got it. Professor Navarro, an inventor, always has the time and resources to assist. There's also Jinxy, a bad-luck demon in Navarro's debt, often has knowledge about all things spiritual for the gang. Don't forget Mustafah, a dead janitor who maitains a library of supernatural tomes at Bela Lugosi school. Last, and definitely least, there's Wad, an annoying and occasionally useful wad of spiritual bubblegum who is annoying and occasionally useful. He's also annoying... but occassionally useful. Together, this cast of memorable characters star in Phantom Investigators, a show as distinctive as they. The series was animated using a variety of near-forgotten techniques in our modern world of cgi: puppetry, paper cut-outs, stop-motion and even some live-action (not so forgotten, admittedly). Meanwhile, the stories often travel into the realm of the bizarre and highly imaginative. Very distinctive stuff.
