Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott, The

First Aired in 2005

On The Road to Stardom with Missy Elliott, thirteen aspiring young singers and rappers will tour with 3x Grammy Award-winning rapper/singer/producer/songwriter Missy Elliott, where they will live together on the road in a tour bus for 10 weeks to compete against each other for the opportunity to become the next big Hip-Hop/R&B star; the deal is completed with a recording contract from Missy Elliott, $100,000, and a mentor like no other---Missy.

The series features a diverse group of singers and rappers, ranging in age from 19-29, as they transform into multi-talented entertainers, and in the process facing weekly tests that will determine who will win. While dealing with the ups-and-downs of life on the road, this select group will be challenged in a variety of ways, and with Missy's guidance, will be exposed to top music industry insiders, all under 24-hour-a-day surveillance of cameras that will chronicle their every move.

Missy leads the judges panel of music industry insiders, including respected R&B singer/songwriter/producer/performer Teena Marie, Grammy Award-winning producer Dallas Austin, who has created hits with some of music's top artists, including Madonna, TLC, Pink, and most recently, Gwen Stefani; and the president of Violator Management, Mona Scott, who represents rappers Busta Rhymes & 50 Cent, and R&B singer Tweet, among others. These judges will eliminate one performer each week until only one is left standing to claim the $100,000 prize and recording contract. Missy will then help launch the career of the winner by signing him/her to her record label and releasing the winner's first single.
