Saved by the Bell: The New ClassFirst Aired in 1993 The season after the original Saved by the Bell series ended, Peter Engel Productions and NBC rolled out Saved by the Bell: The New Class, also set at Bayside High School but featuring a new group of young actors, with original cast members Dennis Haskins (Principal Richard Belding) and Dustin Diamond ("Screech" Powers, who came along in season 2) providing some continuity. Although it never was as popular as the original series, The New Class had enough staying power to last for seven seasons, providing an anchor for the Saturday morning "TNBC" (teen NBC) lineup, even with its necessarily revolving-door cast, which featured a lot of bright and attractive young actors. Reruns have been shown on the USA Network for a number of years, but as of August 2001, they are not scheduled anymore.
