Seven Little MonstersFirst Aired in 2000 From Maurice Sendak, world-renowned author/illustrator of Where the Wild Things Are, comes Seven Little Monsters. The show stars - you guessed it - seven little monsters, who really aren't so little - they're over ten feet tall! These kids live with their loving Mom at #1234567 Chestnut Street and are definitely not your typical neighbors. The series follows the seven monsters through their hilarious day-to-day misadventures as they confront life's challenges and work together as a family. ORIGIN: The Seven Little Monsters as PBS knows it, began as a branch of the PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch, an umbrella device used to try and bring all PBS stations together to air the same thing Saturday mornings. The seven shared the umbrella with Corduroy, Elliot Moose, Marvin the Tap-Dancing Horse, Timothy Goes to School, and George Shrinks. Initially, PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch ran three hours, but after one season, it was cut down to two hours, losing Corduroy and Elliot Moose. When production of the unit PBS Kids Bookworm Bunch stopped in 2002, Seven Little Monsters continued on its own, albeit in a shorter format. On January 6, 2003, the team introduced all-new, 15-minute cartoons, which PBS aired on a double bill with The Berenstain Bears. Eventually, the seven were set even further back when PBS ordered 30 new half-hours of The Berenstain Bears. Ultimately, Seven Little Monsters was taken permanently from the PBS airwaves in 2004.
