Speed Racer

First Aired in 1966

Featuring Speed and his ultimate driving machine, the Mach 5, Speed Racer combines racing with intrigue. Joining Speed is an unforgettable cast of characters, including Mom and Pops Racer, girlfriend Trixie, little brother Spritle and his pet monkey Chim Chim, mechanic Sparky, and the mysterious Racer X.

Characters

Speed Racer: Speed is an eighteen year old car driver, and is one of the youngest in the international racing cicuit. Speed also has martial art talents and tried to do the right thing whenever possible. His girlfriend's name is Trixie.

Racer X (Rex Racer): Rex is Speed's older brother and is quite misterious. Rex left home at the young agge of 18 and started racing the circut after Pops built him a red, number one car.

Spirtle: Spirtle is the yongest brother of the family and turned eight years of age in the episode "The Royal Racer". Spirtle and Chim Chim usually always follow along Trixie and Speed in the trunk of their Mach 5 car.

Chim Chim: Chim Chim is the family's pet monkey, and Spirtle's best-friend. Chim Chim makes it his duty that Trixie and Speed get home safely.

Trixie: Trixie is a seventeen year old helicopter pilot and a navigational whiz. Trixie is Speed's girlfriend.

Reruns
The show returned in 1993 for reruns on MTV during primetime.

It also aired on Cartoon Network. It aired at 3:00 PM and 10:30 PM (EST) Monday-Friday, and 12:30 AM (EST) on Saturdays.

The original Speed Racer began re-airing on SPEED Channel in November, Mornings at 7AM/ ET, Weeknights at 6PM/ ET and Fridays at 12AM/ ET. The New Year's marathon aired from 7AM/ ET to 2AM/ ET on January 2, 2004, exclusively on SPEED.
