Top Cops

First Aired in 1990

Top Cops was an anthology series (similar to Unsolved Mysteries) from Larry Jacobson and Sonny Grosso, with the music provided by Domenic Troiano for CBS Broadcast International. Filmed on location in Canada, the series was one of the first to create a landmark for American shows. It proved that the cast and crew of a show could be almost 100% Canadian yet still stand up to the same standards that the American-produced shows had.

From 1990 to 1993, Top Cops aired as two back-to-back half-hour episodes, including anywhere from one to three vignettes per episode. Each vignette detailed a police officer or case that caught the public interest. In some cases, the show would highlight individuals who had greatly contributed to law enforcement such as Bette Clark, a police artist who was instrumental in the creation of the current computer programs used in law enforcement to help identify unknown individuals.

Top Cops currently airs weekends on MYSTERY!, typically airing four episodes over a two-day period, and periodically on MenTV. Check your local TVGuide for dates and times.
